Establishing a strong base

The sea

I find it so easy when a relationship isn’t going so well to live in the land of denial.  No, it will be okay.  We’ll get through it.  It’s really hard to know when to cut your losses. To accept that the vision of reality isn’t going to happen, no matter how hard you try. The whole purpose of the relationship in the first place is to establish a comfort zone – a financially secure, emotionally secure place from which to work on life’s projects.  To quote the child psychologist John Bowlby,

life is best organized as a series of daring ventures from a secure base

When I was visiting Mr. Faraway I took some lovely pictures of a huge thunderstorm coming in over the bay.  There are no thunderstorms here, just constant happy drizzly rain and sunshine.  I needed a version of the ocean that matched my feelings a little more.
